Passion-Driven Precision Teaching for Real-Life Results
Founder & Director of Learning Matters, LLC.
Danielle Costa is a nationally respected educator, speaker, and mentor who has helped hundreds of students unlock their full academic potential using nothing more than a pencil, a stopwatch, and a proven system.
Her journey began not in a classroom—but on the couch beside her struggling daughter, reading one painful sentence at a time. What came next changed everything: Precision Teaching, Applied Behavioral Science, and a fire to help every child thrive.

What if one minute could change everything?
Danielle believes learning doesn’t have to be frustrating, slow, or discouraging. Every student—regardless of their starting point—deserves the chance to thrive. That’s why she built Learning Matters around a proven, data-driven method called Precision Teaching, which helps unlock a learner’s full potential by focusing on fluency, feedback, and measurable progress.
Grounded in the latest neuroscience and over a decade of classroom experience, Danielle’s approach blends academic rigor with emotional encouragement. Instead of watching students fall further behind, she helps them accelerate forward—turning confusion into confidence and uncertainty into lasting growth.

Based on Science
Rooted in behavioral science, neurology, and decades of research, Danielle’s methods are built on how the brain actually learns best.

Backed by Results
Every student’s growth is tracked, measured, and celebrated. Her students routinely gain multiple grade levels in months—not years.

Fueled by Heart
More than a method—it’s a mission. Danielle meets each student with compassion, care, and a belief in their potential.
What Drives Danielle Costa's Work?
From Personal Struggle to Powerful Solution
Danielle founded Learning Matters in 2011 after witnessing her own daughter struggle to read, sparking a mission to help students who learn differently. She set out to build a center where personalized instruction, behavioral science, and compassionate teaching could come together to support real academic growth. Today, Learning Matters provides a warm, measurable, and empowering environment—where students gain confidence, families feel heard, and every challenge is met with a proven solution. Since then, Danielle has:
- Taught small-group instruction at Morningside Academy
- Led intervention classes at Umpqua Valley Christian School
- Board member of the Standard Celeration Society
- Helped Oregon students advance multiple grade levels rapidly
- Delivered a TEDx talk on fluency-based reading intervention
The Learning
Matters Difference
While traditional tutoring helps students catch up, Danielle’s approach is built to move them forward. Her Precision Teaching method combines neuroscience, behavior analysis, and real-time tracking to create fast, measurable growth in reading, writing, and math.
Each lesson is timed, personalized, and designed to build fluency without frustration. With one-on-one support and immediate feedback, students gain confidence, clarity, and momentum that lasts far beyond the classroom.

Focused Instruction
Students receive personalized support with clear goals, timed fluency drills, and immediate feedback that leads to faster learning.

Proven Methodology
Backed by neuroscience and decades of results, our Precision Teaching approach helps students grow 1–3 grade levels in months.

Real Stories. Real Results.
“Danielle changed everything for our family.” Before Learning Matters, our son dreaded school and cried over homework. Danielle’s methods helped him build confidence, fluency, and pride in his learning. Now, he actually asks to do reading practice. Her impact is unmatched.
